Vivid Sydney 2012

Heading into its fourth year Vivid Sydney is currently on in the harbour city. A large variety of lighting sculptures are on display for the general public to see and interact with, transforming the Sydney city scape into an array of colour and light.

This year Tensile was contracted by Xenian and Lighting Design Partnership (LDP) for the structural design and construction of their display: stand 3. From the concept offered by Xenian & LDP, Tensile developed the structural design, oversaw the construction and brought the sculpture to life. The sculpture uses a mixture of 3mm stainless steel wire and fittings to achieve a ‘lightness’ and transparency that enhances the main sculptural light elements. Tensile worked closely with our partners from prototype to final installation to ensure that the cables performed aesthetically as well functionally.
