Sihlcity Carpark Facade

Sihlcity Greenwall in Zurich is one of Switzerland’s largest shopping centres, completed in 2007 and designed by Architect Theo Hotz. The green facade which covers 8 stories of the centre’s carpark at a width of 25 meters sits approximately 700mm off the face to provide sufficient room for the mix of Chinese Wisteria and Birthwort plantings to grow. The green facade was designed and installed by Jakob in conjunction with the landscape architects ensuring thorougher planning and quality workmanship would ensue.

The result is a facade that integrates both with the car park structure and architecture while providing an optimal design for the individual species needs. It is this coordination and early planning with green facades that ensure the project will look good long after the opening.
