Green Facade – Bondi Apartments

The green facades are located within two courtyards of this Bondi apartment block, these intimate spaces allow light and air into the apartments while providing a break out space away from the busy beach front. Standing inside the courtyards you could be anywhere with the sound of stones crunching underfoot and the pale blue sky above.

Designed and installed by Tensile Design & Construct the green facades span up to 14m high covering the plain faced walls within the courtyards providing a verticality and interest to the deep spaces. Tensile worked closely with the landscape contractor and the builder to integrate the stainless steel cable details with Tensile’s experienced team utilising twin rope access to complete the installation. Pandorea jasminoides was used to cover the 5mm stainless cable and the results only 6 months in have been astounding.

Green facades are quite often simplistic in their appearance but that simplicity hides the multiple factors that go into the planning and detailing of a successful green facade such as this.
